CO-End80B Staphylococcus spp.       development

CO-End80B is a recombinant bacteriophage-derived endolysin being developed as an alternative antimicrobial approach against primarily Staphylococcus epidermidis. S. epidermidis is a major commensal of human skin and mucosal surfaces and an important opportunistic pathogen associated with bloodstream and medical device-related infections. The current development program focuses on S. epidermidis, with the potential to expand the application of the platform to other clinically relevant staphylococcal pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, in future development stages.

The endolysin is being further developed as a protein nanoparticle in collaboration with COBIK's spin-off company Sferogen, using the partners' proprietary platform, with the aim of enhancing its therapeutic potential.
